Blogs for Educators
It's so interesting that there is a large community of educators interested in sharing and learning how to use technology in their classroom. I went to a blog today from an educator that posts interesting things he (she?) finds and also asks questions of others. One of the posts I looked at discussed a safe mode (I think) for using flickr. I sometimes forget in my tech-savyness that I can usually avoid inappropriate pictures and internet sites. Children, though, either don't know how or don't want to avoid these images. There were a lot of things mentioned about the new version of flickr cc that I never would have thought about children wanting or needing. I'm not sure whether it was making suggestions or telling what the new version will have, but it mentioned having larger text and pictures for younger students because they want their attention to be drawn to the most important aspect of the page. This was only one blog entry. There were others about wikis and other technology things that I don't understand yet. It was exciting, though, to see an blog exploring important issues with using technology in the classrom.

Good point about forgetting that children are not as adept as we are in avoiding the harmful sites out there! Not just inappropriate content, but spam and viruses too! Great observation!
