So far, I have found Delicious to be a fabulous site to hold my favorite websites. It's much easier than messy bookmarks where you can never find what you're looking for.
My first bundle area is General Education Tools. This bundle includes links to Washingon States OSPI, my school's website, and Google for Educators. These are sites that I already go to frequently, especially OSPI, and will continue to be an important site I will probably use daily.
I also created a bundle for Teaching English. This includes a variety of sites that provide information about English (like writing, grammar, a dictionary) and sites with lesson planning information. I personally included the dictionary because I have issues with spelling. Dictionaries are my friend! I also included the MLA (Modern Language Association) because it's important to know how to cite research papers correctly!
Next, I bundled Technology Cites. I don't have too many bookmared yet, but I'm sure as we go through the tech class, I will continue to learn about new sites that can help me in the classroom. I included both the smartboard technology AND proACTIV websites. ProACTIV is what's used in my classroom, so I've been looking into the specific software that it provides.
Finally, I did Theatre Sites. This is a wide variety of things including playscript companies, educational theatre's homepage, and drama games. There are also a few articles about technology in the theatre classroom.
Favorite Sites:
http://edta.org/ has been one of my favorite websites for years. It provides educators with links to books and information about teaching theatre to students. It also links theatre educators around the country (and even the world). It's also a great place to find information about the Internation Thespian Society (Proud member of troup 669) and find news about conferences and opportunities for students.
http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/ has a lot of great information about writing and grammar. It has different sections for looking at words and paragraphs, plus resources for powerpoints, quizzes and worksheets. There's information and sections for just about anything a teacher could need when it comes to teaching students how to write correctly.
http://animoto.com/ I have found my newest obsession! This website is so fabulous. There are a hundred different ways to use this site for educational purposes. A teacher could have students create a video with drawings they made to illustrate scenes from a novel. A teacher could also use a video to show parents student work at the end of the year or at parents nights. It could also be used to display pictures from a theatre production. Ideally, videos could be put on a class website. Students love to see themselves and their pictures. Perhaps a video of the week could be something to entice students to look at your class website!
http://www.k12.wa.us/ It may not be flashy or exciting, but the OSPI website is vitally important to educators. I haven't started teaching yet, and I stil probably go here weekly for assignments in Instructional Design. EARLs and GLE's are found here and updated so often that the only way an educator is going to keep up is to visit the website and visit it often!
DELICIOUS: As far as delicious is concerned, it's exciting to see what other educators might find on the web. I think by networking our ideas about bookmarks, it will be easier to find the best wesites available on different subjects. Students could also use Delicious. Perhaps an assignment where they have to find websites on a book we are reading in English class. They can mark their sites and share them with their classmates. Also, students can share sites where they find homework help or anything else interesting.
