Technology Article
I read the article "Generation IM." This article discussed several different advantages of using technology in the classroom. I was surprised that the article did not list access to technology was not an issue for teachers using technology. I know my high school had extremely limited technology. When I graduated, some of the classrooms did not even have their own television set and most did not have their own DVD players. Overheads and white boards were the traditional place for notes, a few classrooms even still had chalkboards. I'm sure most schools have a little more technology availability now, but I am also sure that some schools still lag behind the digital needs of their students. I did like that the article discussed the fact that many teachers are intimidated and overwhelmed by the different options available for technology use. I would never want to use something in the classroom if I was not sure that it was going to work and I would need to know that I fully understood what I was using. The best part about this article is the list at the end of seven easy ways to use technology in the classroom. The list included sources to set up wikis, class blogs, and all sorts of other accounts. There is a lot out there on the internet to use, and a lot out there to help people learn how to use different technology.
