How I decided to be a Teacher

Throughout my school years, I have always been the person that my peers came to for help. I would always gladly help them figure out their math, understand the science concept, or explain my history notes to other students. It seemed natural that I would go to college to become a teacher. The only question was what subject would I teach. When I was in elementary school, I always told people I wanted to be a second grade teacher. After high school though, I knew I did not want to take the elementary school route. My inspiration came my junior year in high school. I took a directing and technical theatre class in high school and directed my own one act play. The experience was tiring, stressful, and difficult, but I loved every minute of it. I knew that I wanted to teach theatre. As I began my college education, I quickly realized that I should probably pair my desire to teach theatre with something that I could actually get a teaching job. So, I decided to add English to my theatre endorsment. I have enjoyed all my subject area classes and eagerly await my journey into the education field.

Thanks for sharing your story. Your God-given gift for acting is such a blessing to others and as you provide guidance for students who enjoy acting I am sure you will give many of them the opportuntity and encouragment to do what they have wanted to do but thought was impossible.
