My new love for Excel

This summer, my boss was OBSESSED with Excel. I had some experience with excel in my advanced computers class in high school, but hadn't really found a reason to use excel again. But, I have learned to use it more! I have found Excel sometimes easier to format for worksheets than Word. You have to figure out how big the sheet is, and then you can merge cells in order to center your information. Using more than one column is WAY easier on Excel than word. Obviously, though, I would not use excel for a document that needed a lot of text.

I used excel at the beginning of the play to create the audition information and contact sheet for every person that auditioned for "Earnest." I have also used Excel to create an assignment chart for myself. It shows all my classes and the date and what is due for each class. I then color coded the weeks to make them easier to see. Then, as I complete weeks, I delete them from my document so the current week is always on top. I've also made weekly schedules (mostly of classes and work) so I can see where it best fits to put in practicum hours.

It may take some fiddling around to find all the tools you need to make your document, but I've found once I figured things out, it takes far less time to create things than battling with Word!

Looks like you are using Excel to make your life easier and I am guessing that you will continue to find it very useful throughout your teaching career. And if we only knew all that Excel can do for us I think that we would be amazed!
